Read and Write with Confidence
This course develops the reading and writing skills and strategies adults need for home, personal and further study. Participants can study as part of a small group or on their own with a tutor.
Learn to Love Maths
This course develops basic maths skills and strategies that adults need for home, personal use and further study. This course is ideal for adults who describe maths as 'being their worst subject' in school. Participants will enjoy maths working at their own pace in a small group setting or on their own with a tutor.
Intensive Tuition in Core Skills
This course develops core skills in reading, writing, communications, maths and computers. Participants study in small groups for six hours a week for a 14-week block. This course is a good starting point for adults who left school early and wish to get back into education. This course is run subject to funding.
Workplace Programmes
These courses provide core skills needed for the modern workplace. Participants develop their communication, maths and ICT skills in a small group setting.
These programmes vary depending on the needs of the group but include FÁS, Return to Education participants and Return to Learning, a programme for the outdoor staff of Waterford County Council.
Family Learning Programmes
These courses recognise that parents are the primary teachers of their children. They provide support for parents/guardians and are an opportunity for parents and children to discover the fun of learning together.

Accredited Courses
County Waterford Adult Learning Programmes offer qualifications at FETAC Level 2 and Level 3.
ESOL, English for Speakers of Other Languages
Beginners English language classes are available for adults. The focus of the class is to develop key language for use in everyday activities. Accreditation is offered at FETAC Levels 3 & 4.
FETAC Level 2 Programmes
Who does this level suit?
FETAC Level 2 Certificate in General Learning Maths in Everyday Life
This is a part-time programme. The programme is for people that want to start learning maths from the beginning. Participants will learn basic maths skills to help them in many areas of their lives including further study. On successful completion, learners can progress on to FETAC Level 3.
FETAC Level 2 Certificate in General Learning: Using Technology in Everyday Life
This is a part time programme. Learners are introduced to computers and technology. Its focus is to help participants feel confident in using technologies in everyday situations. On successful completion of this programme, learners can progress onto FETAC Level 3.
FETAC Level 3 Courses
Who does this level suit?
FETAC Level 3 Certificate in General Learning
This part time programme leads to the Level 3 Certificate in General learning. Participants study communications, maths, personal skills and ICT skills with other core skills modules. This course prepares participants for further study at FETAC Level 4 or higher.
