V.T.O.S. - Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme
The V.T.O.S. scheme is designed to provide second chance education for the long-term unemployed and other social welfare recipients.
- To develop their employability.
- To prepare them for further education and training that will lead to paid employment or self-employment.
Who Qualifies?
You must be:
- Over 21 years of age
- Unemployed for at least six months (in receipt of Social Welfare or signing for credits)
- The six month on social welfare period does not apply to those who have received statutory redundancy
OR
- On D.P.M.A. (Disabled Persons Maintenance Allowance) OR
The spouse of a person unemployed for six months OR
A lone parent
What are my entitlements?
- Participants keep all Social Welfare entitlements
- There are no fees and all books and materials are provided on a lending scheme
- Meal and travel allowances are paid on an actual daily attendance basis
- Applicants who are more than one year unemployed are paid an additional €20 per week to attend
- A childcare allowance is available
Participants may spend up to 2 years on V.T.O.S.
Students are admitted to the course after a selection interview.
