FETAC Level 5

Introduction: This course provides the learner with skills and knowledge required to work in  health services, a care setting, nursing home or community. The course is available to individuals currently working in the health care sector.

Duration: 2 Years, part time.

Mandatory

• Care Skills
• Care Support
• Safety & Health at Work
• Communications
• Work Experience

Elective

• Care of the Older Person
• Caring for Children (0-6)
• Occupational First Aid
• An appropriate approved module

Important: (subjects offered will depend on demand) Completion of 8 modules is required for the full award

Eligibility: This course is run under the BTEI scheme. Free tuition is available for those with less than leaving certificate education or who are in receipt of social welfare or hold a current medical card. For those who do not qualify for free tuition a fee will apply.

Entry Requirements: There are no specific entry requirements for this course but it would be advisable to discuss your options with the Adult Guidance Service before embarking on this or any course.

Garda Vetting: Students are required to have Garda clearance before taking part in work experience.
