FETAC Level 5

Introduction: This course is primarily aimed at those currently working or wishing to work in the area of childcare. The course provides the learner with the practical skills and knowledge required to work with young children in an early child care and education setting.

Duration: 2 years, part-time

• Caring for Children (0-6 years)
• Child Development
• Working in Childcare
• Communications
• Work Experience
• Early Childhood Education

Elective

• Arts & Craft for Childcare
• Care Provision & Practice
• Irish for Pre-School Services
• Safety & Health at Work
• Occupational First Aid
• An appropriate approved module

Important: (subjects offered will depend on demand)
Completion of 8 modules is required for the full award

Eligibility: This course is run under the BTEI scheme. Free tuition is available for those with less than leaving certificate education or who are in receipt of social welfare or hold a current medical card. For those who do not qualify for free tuition a fee will apply.

Entry Requirements: There are no specific entry requirements for this course but it would be advisable to discuss your options with the Adult Guidance Service before embarking on this or any course.

Garda Vetting: Students are required to have Garda clearance prior to taking part in work experience.
