What is Adult Guidance?
As an Adult who wishes to return to learning - you may be wondering where to look for information or who to talk to regarding different options. You may also be concerned about your abilities and aptitude for different areas of study. The Adult Guidance service can help you to get the information you need and to talk over your options with you.

The Guidance Service can offer the following services in a professional, confidential and supportive educational way which can help you to make important educational, training and career decisions.

Guidance
Our Guidance Counsellor offers one-to-one guidance which can allow you time and space to talk through your options. This can help you to:

• Identify your skills, interests and goals in life.
• Make decisions about your future education, training and career needs.
• Overcome barriers that may have been holding you back and to realise that your educational dreams may become a reality

Information
Our information officer can help adults to be better informed regarding their educational and career choices. We have an extensive library on education and career information. This library is open to the public to browse through with the help of our information officer. Information can be provided in the following areas:

• Full and part-time courses
• Distance Learning
• Funding and Grants
• Application deadlines
• Careers

Who can use the service?

• Adults taking VTOS, BTEI, Adult Literacy, Community and Adult Education courses with County Waterford VEC.
• Adults who wish to return to learning
• Adults who want a second chance at education
• Adults seeking further qualifications.

The Guidance Service is:

• Free of charge
• Strictly Confidential
• Friendly and relaxed
• Supportive

The Guidance Service is based in the Adult Education Centre, Dungarvan with an outreach service available at the Education Centre, Tramore and at the Adult Education Centre, Lismore.
