St. Declan's Community College is located in Kilmacthomas. The school was founded in 1969, and extended in 2002 with an investment of €4million. St. Declan's offers its students a comprehensive range of subjects from Junior to Senior Level. The teaching staff are highly qualified, experienced and committed to the academic achievement of each student. Many live locally within the catchment area. An understanding of a student's background allows the staff to deal with each student in a personal and sympathetic fashion. Eugene Power was appointed Principal of the school in 2008 and the Deputy Principal is Mary Dunbar.
