The Community Education service supports community based groups, in locations throughout the county. It aims to encourage adults to return to learning at their own pace in their own community.

The range of programmes offered, reflect the needs of individual community groups which may include:

  • Crafts
  • Personal and Career Development
  • Community Development
  • Living Life to the Full
  • Cookery
  • Childcare
  • Conversational Irish
  • Intercultural Studies
  • Basic Computers
  • After School Support Education and Training
  • Groupwork
  • Leaving Certificate

The Community Education Service can provide assistance with the following:

  • funding
  • establishing programmes
  • accreditation and certification
  • networking
  • progression routes

Community Education

  • can be the first step in returning to learning
  • is flexible and fun
  • is based on the needs of the community groups
  • values the learner and builds on their experiences
     
    Groups can apply for funding for education programmes which generally comes in the form of paid tutor costs.
