County Waterford VEC in conjunction with the Department of Education and Science administer a means-tested Grant scheme that offers financial support to students. The current application form for the year 2010/2011 is available to download at the bottom of this page. County Waterford V.E.C. offers the following Grants Schemes:

The PLC scheme operates for PLC Colleges (Levels 5 and 6).
The Third Level Trainee Scheme, IT Colleges, (Levels 6 and 7)
The Scholarship Scheme, Universities, (Level 8).

NB: At present where a student is applying to a university, (Level 8), directly after completing the leaving certificate, the application will be made to Waterford County Council for assessment there.

Any student attending PLC colleges or IT colleges for level 6 or 7 will be assessed by the VEC.

Students who make an application for a maintenance grant through Co Waterford VEC are welcome to call in to us at the VEC Administrative Offices, Shopping Centre Dungarvan where we will go through the form with them. We encourage this well before the closing date of August 31st 2010 as it gets particularly busy at this time.
